Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown shortly before a UnitedHealth Group investor conference. The masked shooter fled, beginning a five-day manhunt that became the immediate news context in which $DDD emerged.

A Solana memecoin named DENY DEFEND DEPOSE, ticker $DDD, was created on Pump.fun using contract address CEyqpXcqxSYxJEZY91HurPKErPZsKK9ggJQrNmWLpump. Solscan records the token's first mint at 04:46:15 UTC on December 5, 2024, equivalent to 11:46:15 PM EST on December 4. Its original token image was a CCTV-style NYPD Crime Stoppers still of the then-unidentified hooded figure sought by police.
